999.9

A basho with functional beauty of objects and people for a tool called glasses.

OVERVIEW

SIMONE was in charge of the interior design of four stores in Japan for 999.9, an eyewear brand with a distinctive functional beauty based on the concept that “glasses are tools.

JR Nagoya Takashimaya

Walnut wood was used to create a high-quality, trustworthy foundation, and the combination of beige color and travertine creates a soft, open impression. In addition, hardware and glass are used as accents to express the essence of glasses=products.

Shin-Marunouchi Building

The Shin-Marunouchi Building has a calm atmosphere despite being in an office district. To harmonize with this environment, the walls and floors are composed of elegant and trustworthy black-stained wood and gray-beige materials that clothe the building in a soft atmosphere. In addition, stainless steel material was incorporated as an accent to express the highest purity of quality as a tool for eyewear.

Gion, Kyoto

To harmonize the overall tone with the streetscape of Kyoto, we selected elegant and naturally warm oak and stone materials. The beige color also creates a soft and open impression. The Kyoto Gion street store welcomes many customers from Japan and abroad and aims to become an important base for disseminating 999.9’s quality and philosophy.

Narita International Airport, Terminal 2, Main Building, 4th floor

The store is located in front of the security checkpoint, where customers spend a short amount of time, and therefore, the touch point at the store has been strengthened. The store will offer a lineup of sunglasses and other products that can be provided in a short period of time, creating an efficient purchasing experience. In addition, to expand recognition among inbound customers, the overall manner of the store was designed with a motif of “wooden framework,” which is a characteristic of Japanese architecture. The main color is natural oak, which radiates softness and dignity, while metal and stone are used for the wall construction and central fixtures, in pursuit of a modern and productive balance. We aimed to create a space that embodies minimalism and high quality functional beauty, while objectively incorporating perspectives from abroad into Japan.
